This is in memory of our son Darren aged 20 who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident on the 23rd January 2008 on his way to work. Darren was the rear seat passenger of a vehicle which lost control and hit a tree
Darren was a fun, loving and caring young man who was never afraid to give people a kiss and a hug no matter where he was. He lived life to the full playing football, golf and going to the gym every week. He was a plasterer by trade and loved his work. He has two younger brothers Tom aged 15 and William aged 5 who he adored. We knew Darren was very popular but were shocked that there were over 300 people who came to his funeral. We still see some of his friends and are moved by how many people are still trying to come to terms with his death. He is so badly missed by all.
Darren was not killed outright he died later that day at James Paget Hospital where the staff battled for several hours trying to save his life.
We have decided to raise money for the James Paget Hospital to purchase life saving equipment that our government will not fund. First we plan to purchase a Monsoon Ventilator that will benefit the ITU and the A & E department. This piece of equipment will cost £17,500 once we have achieved this goal we will continue to buy more equipment that they need. If we can help save the life of one person in Darren’s memory he would not have died in vain.
We can never let Darren’s memory die, so we hope to keep him alive through his charity and the different events throughout the years
